Hundreds Celebrate National Bike to School Day

Here are reports on National Bike to School Day held at a number of LCPS elementary schools. National Bike Day was May 7. Because LCPS had so many events – 12 out of the 21 total scheduled around the state, schools held them Tuesday-Friday, May 6-9.

Hermosa Heights E.S. Has Growing Tower Garden

Fourth-grade students at Hermosa Heights Elementary School are seeing plants grow in a new way. With funding received from the LCPS Foundation to purchase two aero-hydroponic growing systems, these students are tracking the data on growth between traditional, in-the-ground gardening system and an air and water system (aero-hydroponic).

Hermosa Heights E.S. Walkers Earn Tee Shirts

As part of the Safe Routes to School program at their school, Hermosa Heights Elementary students, staff and parents were given a punch card in the fall of 2013. Each time they participated in our weekly walking school bus, their card was punched. After receiving five or more punches on their cards, participants earned their tee shirts.
