Between the second week in December 2013 and the second week of January 2014, which includes the winter holiday break, the district racked up a whopping 26.8 percent in electricity cost avoidance, amounting to $68, 951.60, led by Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Mesa Middle School, Centennial High School and the CrossRoads program.

35 Schools Get Energy Savings Awards

Thirty-five LCPS schools received the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2013 Energy Star award, recognizing their commitment to energy savings, said LCPS Energy Education Specialist Jim Mulhauser. Mulhauser presented Energy Star certificates to principals February 11, 2014. Plaques will be installed at each school later this month, he said.
