About Las Cruces Public Schools

Las Cruces Public Schools is the second largest school district in New Mexico. Located 45 miles north of the Mexican border, it encompasses the City of Las Cruces, the Town of Mesilla, the Village of Doña Ana, and White Sands Missile Range, and covers the middle third of Doña Ana County.

The district has 39 schools: 25 elementary schools (grades pre-K-5); eight middle schools and the alternative middle school LEAP program (grades 6-8); and six high schools, including an alternative high school and the state’s first early college high school. A second early college high school, Arrowhead Park Medical Academy, will open in July 2014. LCPS also has a virtual high school program.

Student enrollment is approximately 24,400 students. Las Cruces Public Schools is the third largest employer in Doña Ana County with more than 3,800 employees, which includes about 2,300 classroom teachers and educational assistants.
