LCPS uses a learning management program called Brightspace (by D2L) which allows students to participate in online learning using a platform that combines the classroom and community activities with the internet. Please click here for more information on Brightspace.
HOW IT WORKS
Teachers are able to create the syllabus, calendar, handouts and PowerPoint presentations within Brightspace, as well as make links and audio/video presentations available to students via the internet. Pen and paper tests can be replaced by using the online testing capability Brightspace provides.
Students can communicate with fellow classmates by using Classlist to send email or post class and group messages by using the Discussions tool. Students are even able to submit assignments online, eliminating the need to print.
Every student and faculty member has a Brightspace account that can only be accessed with the correct username and password. Each user is given the appropriate permissions needed to access the groups, materials and activities they need.
Every second Sunday of each month Brightspace performs server maintenance from midnight to 6:00 a.m. Please note that the system may be unavailable during that time.
