Cafeteria Workers Recognized at Appreciation Breakfast
Las Cruces Public Schools Nutrition Services workers on Friday were recognized at an appreciation breakfast at Oñate High School. The breakfast, which was Superhero-themed, recognized cafeteria workers for all that they do for students in the district.“You ARE superheroes,” said Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education President Ed Frank. “That is for sure. On behalf of the School Board, thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Edwanda Williams, introducing the theme of the breakfast, told Nutrition Services workers that she hoped they felt appreciated for all that they do.“We want you to be healthy and happy,” said LCPS Deputy Superintendent of Operations, Gabe Jacquez. “We understand the many roles that you play in the
lives of our students.”
Jacquez recognized that food-service workers often wear the hats of counselors, parents, nutritionists and advisors for students. In many cases, Jacquez said, Nutrition Services employees were the first district employees students see in the morning.
Breakfast for the Nutrition Services employees was paid for by Superintendent Greg Ewing and provided by IHOP.
