Sierra Middle School Tents to Rents Fundraiser
Students from Sierra Middle School are participating in a community fundraiser to raise money for Mesilla Valley Community of Hope. The Student Council initially set a goal of raising $1,000 for the Tents to Rents Fundraiser, but surpassed that goal, raising $1,800 to date. Student Council Advisor Kristin Knight said that, with one week left in the fundraiser, student council members are hoping to cap off their new goal in raising $2,000. They need just $200 to meet their mark.
The Mesilla Valley Community of Hope provides temporary housing in tents for homeless individuals at Camp Hope while they wait to be housed in a home or apartment. The cost to move an individual from a tent to a home or apartment is approximately $6,000 per year. Many organizations and individuals across the city have come together to raise money for the six-week Tents to Rents Fundraiser.
The Sierra Middle School students decided to join other local organizations for the fundraiser to help make a difference in the lives of those who have found temporary refuge at Camp Hope. Now, the Sierra Middle School Student Council is looking for your help raise $200 before the end of the week to reach their new goal. The campaign to raise money for the fundraiser will come to a close at the end of September. Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated!
