Retirement Dinner

LCPS Superintendent Dr. Greg Ewing thanks a crowd of retired, and soon-to-be retired, LCPS employees for their service to the school district at the annual LCPS Retirement Recognition Reception, Wednesday, May 9. The employees who are retiring, or have already retired, at the end of the 2017-18 school year included teachers, educational assistants, clerical and secretarial staff, maintenance personnel, administrators, custodians, food service personnel and many others.

“I would like to thank each and every one of our retirees for their commitment to going above and beyond for every student, every day,” said LCPS Superintendent Greg Ewing. “Their collective talent, knowledge and dedication will be truly missed.”

The employees who are retiring, or have already retired, at the end of the 2017-18 school year included teachers, educational assistants, clerical and secretarial staff, librarians, administrators, custodians, food service personnel and many others. Collectively, the retirees represent 2,109 years of service to the school district.

On average, each retiring employee served the district for approximately 25 years, with the longest-serving employee — Sharonne E. Bromley, a social studies teacher at Las Cruces High School — retiring after 44 years of service to the district.

“I want to thank all the parents who shared their amazing children with me through the years. They have taught me more than I could ever imagine,” Bromley said. “My favorite memory is being chosen by Michael Montoya to open Centennial High School; it is the best thing that happened to me.”

When asked about her retirement plans, Bromley responded, “I’ll read the library of books I’ve set aside for 44 years!”
