Rio Grande Preparatory Institute (RGPI) is set to host its Third Annual For the Love of Fitness Expo, a community health and fitness fair, Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RGPI, 2355 Avenida de Mesilla.

“This year, thanks to our community partners, we’re able to offer plenty of great activities for the entire family,” said RGPI Principal Kathie Davis. “Since the students help organize the event from the ground up, it’s a win-win situation for the school and the community.”

The event will feature a wide variety of health and fitness activities for all ages, both inside and outside of the school. Although the event is free to attend and open to the public, donations to support schoolwide extracurricular activities are welcomed, Davis said.

Outside of the school, there will be activities including: an outdoor obstacle course, a jumping balloon, a ninja obstacle course, a food truck and a horse petting station.

Inside of the school, there will health screenings, healthy foods, massages and other health-related resources. Several local fitness companies will also host rotating workout sessions every 30 minutes, starting at 10 a.m., inside the school gymnasium.

The schedule for the gymnasium workout sessions is as follows: Jazzercise hosted by Ellen Kemp Studios at 10 a.m.; Kickboxing hosted by Steel Dragon Gym at 10:30 a.m.; Karate or Self Defense hosted by Guzman’s Sport Karate Kickboxing at 11 a.m.; Zumba by Jody Pino Studio at 11:30 a.m.; Total Fitness Work out by Crunch Fitness at 12 p.m.; Yoga hosted by Indigo Yoga at 12:30 p.m.; Strength Zumba by Jody Pino Studios at 1 p.m.; and Crossfit hosted by Desert Devil Crossfit at 1:30 p.m.
