Dozens of students enrolled in the LCPS CrossRoads program each received all the makings of a complete Thanksgiving meal, Friday, Nov. 17, thanks to several community groups and churches who donated thanksgiving meal baskets to the program.

CrossRoads Donation

District officials and Board of Education Member Terrie Dallman stand beside donors and volunteers during the distribution of the 42 donated thanksgiving meal baskets.

“I like to thank all of the groups that donated their time, effort and resources to put this together,” said Andres Armijo, Interim Executive Director for Student Success & Restorative Justice. “It’s wonderful to see our community come together to provide these families with a nice thanksgiving meal.”

All of the baskets included canned ham, dinner rolls, canned vegetables, pies, whipped cream, and other holiday dinner items. According to Armijo, Nema Lecuyer, reverend at El Calvario Methodist Church, coordinated the donation effort, assembling a group of about five nonprofit organizations and churches to donate all of the ingredients and put together the meal baskets.

A total of 42 meal baskets were donated to the program. All of the CrossRoads students in attendance on Friday, Nov. 17 received a meal basket and any leftover baskets were donated to families at Loma Heights Elementary School.
