As a way to help support community athletics, the Las Cruces High School football program will host its 8th Annual Football Summer Youth Camp, Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily for elementary school students, and 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily for middle school students. The camp will be held at the Las Cruces High School football fields, 1750 El Paseo Rd.

The week-long summer camp is open to 1st-through-8th-grade children of all skill levels and will feature age-appropriate instruction, training demonstrations by the Bulldawg players and coaches, guest speakers and a 7-on-7 tournament on the final day of the camp, according to Mark Lopez, Bulldawg football head coach.

The 7-on-7 tournament will take place Friday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and feature a live DJ, concessions and an awards ceremony, with trophies for the winners of the tournament. The tournament is open to the public and family and friends are encouraged to attend.

The camp registration fee is $90 per child, if registered by June 15, and $100 per child, after June 15, or at the door. As part of the registration fee, each participant will receive a daily lunch and a camp jersey. Participants are encouraged to wear sunscreen and appropriate athletic apparel including: shorts, t-shirts and cleats, if possible.

Lopez said participants are encouraged to arrive, with their parents or legal guardians, at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the first camp on Monday, June 20. The registration table will be located in front of the football fieldhouse, which can be accessed through the parking lot, north of the football field.
