LAS CRUCES—The Las Cruces Public Schools held its annual summer commencement ceremony on June 25 for seniors who attended summer school in order to complete their high school credits. A total of 54 students from six high schools received their diplomas, said LCPS officials. The 6:00 p.m. ceremony was open to the public at the Oñate High School Performing Arts Center, 5700 Mesa Grande Dr. The ceremony was also streamed online on the LCPS webpage at www.lcps.tv.

The number of students who graduated were: Rio Grande Preparatory Institute – 21; Las Cruces High School – 13; Mayfield High School – 9; Oñate High School – 7; Centennial High School – 3; and Arrowhead Park Early College High School – 1.

“A standing-room only crowd of proud family and friends attended the commencement this year,” said Dr. Wendi Miller-Tomlinson, director of LCPS secondary instruction. “These students didn’t give up and they’ve worked hard to complete their high school credits.”

Students will donned their individual school’s cap and gowns.
