Denise Chavez, Other Authors Part of Sept. 26 Literacy Night
LAS CRUCES – Literacy Night with the Children’s Reading Foundation of Doña Ana County (CRFDAC) will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Las Cruces Academy, 1755 Calle De Mercado in Mesilla, said CRFDAC President (and LCPS Board of Education Vice President) Maria Flores.
During the event, attendees can meet local authors, enjoy great food and music and test their reading skills. Participating authors will include Rus Bradburd (“40 Minutes of Hell, The Extraordinary Life of Nolan Richardson” and “Make It, Take It”), Leroy Lozier (“Growing Up in Old Las Cruces”), Sharon Thomas (“No Baths for Tabitha”), F. Richard “Dick” Thomas (“Extravagant Kiss” and eight other collections of poems, John Muir (“Tigers and Songbirds”), Johnny Knew (“The Tree With No Branches”) and Denise Chavez (“The Woman Who Knew the Language of Animals,” “Loving Pedro Infante” and many more).
Includes wine, appetizers from The Mix and music from the Southwest Reed Trio; door prizes.
