LAS CRUCES – The LCPS Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in the board room of the LCPS administration building, 505 S. Main St., Loretto Towne Centre, Suite 249.
The agenda is expected to include:
· Recognitions of 1) LCPS Family School Liaison Elmo Padilla as recipient of the 2013 NEA-New Mexico’s Human and Civil Rights Award; and 2) the LCPS Project Link Homeless Education program;
· An update on the Court Youth Center project that would bring several Las Cruces charter schools into that facility;
· An update on the LCPS Turnaround initiative in place in 11 schools and school programs;
· A review of the LCPS Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS), by Deputy Superintendent Dr. Steven Sanchez;
· A report on September 2013 construction projects, from Construction Projects Director Gloria Martinez;
· A report on the LCPS facilities master plan, from Associate Superintendent for Operations Dane Kennon;
Approval of LCPS’ legislative proposals for the 2014 New Mexico Legislature;
· Request for support to add LCPS Nutrition Services warehouse and delivery employees to the Certified School Employees Council (CSEC)-Las Cruces collective bargaining unit;
· First reading and discussion of Policy ADF: Wellness for Students and Staff;
· First reading and discussion of Policy IHAM: Health Education;
· Second reading and approval of Policy and Regulation BA: Board Goals;
· Second reading and approval of Policy JFA: Revisions to Admissions Procedures;
· Second reading and revision of Policy JLCD: Administering Medicines to Students.
