LAS CRUCES – LCPS will offer its Institute for Parent Engagement (IPE) program at six schools in 2013-14 and wants to hire recruiter to invite parents to participate at each school.

“We provide recruiters a list of 50 parents to call and pay them $.50 per call,” said IPE Coordinator Olga Hawkins. “Recruiters receive an extra $2.00 for each parent who attends the planning session or first class.

The program was piloted in 2013 at Lynn Middle School and Mayfield High School. “180 parents graduated from the program and the reviews were excellent,” said Hawkins. “We hope to build on that success in 2013-14 with the help of some great recruiters,” she said. Recruiters do not have to be LCPS employees.

“IPE, which is based on a highly successful model in California, is designed to strengthen the connection among families and schools and to equip parents with the tools needed at every level of their children’s school journey. Participating in IPE will help parents to advocate for their children and to become stronger voices in their children’s schools,” said Hawkins.
