LAS CRUCES – Here are some of the changes that LCPS will make for the 2013-14 school year, which begins in August 2013:

· School hours: 1) All high school classes will start 20 minutes earlier than last school year – 8:40 a.m. instead of 9:00 a.m.; and 2) the hours for night school at San Andres High School will change to 3:00-6:30 p.m. from 3:30-7:00 p.m. Night school will continue to be offered at SAHS Monday-Thursday. School hours will remain the same as last year for Arrowhead Park Early College High School: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

· Balanced calendar ends. Booker T. Washington and MacArthur elementary schools return to the regular calendar. Both had been on a separate balanced calendar since the 2002-03 school year.

· White Sands Schools reconfiguration. The school will change from separate K-5 and 6-8 programs to a single K-8 program.

· High school graduations. LCPS will move from four to six graduations in May 2014, as Arrowhead Park Early College High School and Centennial High School add senior classes in 2013-14.
